When starting a business, entrepreneurs have many factors to track to ensure a successful launch and optimal business growth moving forward. One of the key components of any business is communications, and the strength of hosted communications solutions can often determine the level of success that a new company enjoys.
In a recent Rackspace article, contributor Lauren Maffeo detailed how the emergence and recent rapid adoption of the cloud is transforming how work is being done for businesses ranging from startups to global firms. Cloud hosted communications options in particular can especially enhance the efficiency at which a business operates by enabling remote support. If there are any problems or if any changes need to be made to a company’s existing communications, the provider of a hosted PBX system or similar service will be able to quickly scale services remotely to meet evolving demands.
Leveraging the cloud for Strong Business Communications
Scott Alexander-Brown, Mubaloo’s Android chief, shared with Rackspace how cloud-related technologies have made a difference with the company.
“We’ve found that cloud architecture helps us to improve the collaboration between our teams from different offices in London, Bristol, Berlin and New York and directly with clients,” said Alexander-Brown. “It also allows us to scale growth quickly without worries about server capacity or costs. But it also means we can be dynamic – if an awesome new prototyping tool is released, we can switch to using it without having to wait for IT infrastructure to be updated. This helps us keep on top of new technology to ensure that the apps we develop are of the highest standards.”
One of the cloud’s major value propositions continues to be that it provides businesses with the flexibility necessary to be successful in the modern enterprise. Recent research from cloud service provider j2 Global, shed some light on just how significantly communications can affect corporate success. Nearly 60 percent of survey respondents indicated that if they were to call a business or trades person and the call went unanswered, they would not leave a voicemail message. Furthermore, more than one-third of respondents said they would prefer to move on to the next business on their list should a communication lapse occur.
The Instant Communications Age
“This is one of the key areas where small businesses are continuing to miss out on potential sales,” said Paul Kinsella, j2 Global Europe’s general manager and vice president. “We all have experience in having our calls unanswered, and – in the age of instant communications – consumers are voting with their feet and moving on to the next business. For the companies themselves, we see how crucial that first interaction with a business is. So, whether it’s a lack of staffing or technology, these businesses will continue to miss out on potential trade.”
As Forbes contributing writer Ken Makovsky said in a recent article, communication solutions have the ability to hurt or help a business’s reputation. This emphasizes the need for startup businesses in particular to invest in premium communication solutions like hosted communications from AccessDirect. Hosted communications enable businesses to be transformed and flourish. AccessDirect provides hosted communications solutions for businesses of all sizes.
