Cloud Based Hosted PBX Service
Cloud based communication solutions like a hosted PBX system offer countless benefits to small and medium-sized businesses. Not only are such systems typically far more reliable than legacy offerings, but they are also almost always significantly more cost-effective. However, SMBs may not be doing enough to embrace the cloud and its benefits.
For example, a recent survey of 1,000 SMBs from accounting software vendor Colmar Brunton found that 16 percent said they were using cloud based computing, which is a 2 percent increase from the previous year’s tally. Although ZDNet noted that many of the companies are likely unknowingly using hosted services, the results indicate that the vast majority of SMBs are still not yet reaping the many benefits offered by cloud solutions.
Adopting Cloud Hosted PBX Services
One attribute in particular that SMBs may be missing out on by not adopting the cloud, according to Dark Reading, is improved security. Although cloud computing has developed an unfounded reputation as being unsafe, Thrive Networks CTO Dylan O’Connor said that it typically provides SMBs with the opportunity to more cost-effectively deal with related security issues. Since the infrastructure and most of the maintenance of a cloud-based solution is dealt with by the cloud services hosted PBX provider, smaller firms do not usually have to actively deal with related security concerns.
As the number of trusted cloud vendors increases, so too do the number of applications and use cases for virtually hosted solutions.
“The question is no longer what should I move to the cloud, but is increasingly becoming, what isn’t a good candidate for the cloud?” O’Conner told Dark Reading.
SMBs looking to embrace the cloud and reap its benefits should use a cloud based hosted PBX system as the ideal jumping-off point for the technology. A cloud hosted PBX phone system is one of the most cost effective communications solutions available, and SMBs can know that all of its concerns will be handled by the trusted staff at AccessDirect instead of by in-house employees.
